Visit the Addo Elephant National Park , a 20 - 25 minute drive away through natural bushveld and established citrus orchards. You are able to do a self-drive trip through the park or we can arrange for you to have a private guided morning or afternoon tour to the park with either of two enthusiastic and experienced guides, one of whom is german-speaking.
The park is home to over 400 elephant, the only disease-free buffalo herds in the country, black rhino, lions, hyena, caracal, zebra, numerous buck, including eland, kudu and red hartebeest, dung beetles and numerous other fascinating smaller creatures.

Visit the Addo Reptile and Raptor Centre close to the Addo Park, where you can have a guided tour to view the diverse reptiles and the many raptors that have been rescued and rehabilitated after injury.

Visit a Cheetah Breeding Project, 20 minutes away from Lupus Den, where you can experience a close encounter with cheetah as they relax, play or feed.

Plan a day trip to Port Elizabeth - an hour's drive away, which could include the KRAGGA KAMMA GAME PARK - 15 minutes from the city. Do either a 2-hour guided game drive or a self-drive through this scenic park, where all the animals roam freely. Lush coastal bush and grassland is home to white rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, nyala, bontebok, lechwe and more.

TOWNSHIP TOUR - 10am - 1.30pm. Covers historically significant sights and the vibrant black townships.
 

Enjoy safe, sandy BEACHES - Humewood beach has blue flag status.
 

BOAT CHARTERS - Boat-based viewing of Southern Right (July - October), Humpback (June/July & November/December ) or Bryde's (all year) WHALES and Bottlenose DOLPHINS in Algoa Bay. Enjoy a trip to view an island Penguin breeding colony, Gannets and Cape Fur seals.


We can arrange for you to do a self-drive to Amakhala Private Game Reserve, an hour away from Lupus Den. Their guided day safari from 11.30 - 17.30 includes a light lunch on their river boat and offers visitors an experience of diverse wildlife and landscape guided by experienced rangers in open Land Rovers. Enjoy sightings of the Big 5 plus cheetah, giraffe, zebra, black wildebeest and many other antelope.

We could also arrange for you to do a self-drive to Schotia Safari's Private Game Reserve, 45 minutes from Lupus Den. Their guided afternoon/evening drive includes an evening meal in their rustic lapa.

 

Your host, Noel, will by arrangement, take you on an interesting tour of the citrus orchards.

Visit the Look-out, a national monument on our farm, Bernol, 10 minutes away from Lupus Den. This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the Sundays River, natural bushveld and farmlands. The Look-out is a memorial to Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, a Valley pioneer and author of "Jock of the Bushveld", responsible for encouraging many early British settlers to take up farming here.

 

Visit beautiful farm gardens, by appointment, where you can relax over a cup of tea and enjoy being in the country amongst the flowers, birds and butterflies. R25.00pp (includes tea) or R15.00 (garden tour only)

Take a gentle stroll or early morning jog through the Lupus Den citrus orchards. Depending on the season, pick a juicy orange to enjoy along the way. Go bird-watching, 10 minutes away, on our bushveld farm, Bernol, where you will see birds not commonly found in our garden and may be lucky enough to see a small Common Duiker or shy Cape Grysbok.
